March 15, 2021: 40-years since Steve Kish was lost in the Cobra Ball 664 crash on The Rock. Steve was lead AMT on my first check ride on the C130BII. He pulled the usual tricks on the 'Green Bean' and we flew together many times after. Just thinking today of the losses suffered in all RECCE mishaps and especially of Rachel and the kids. Sorry it took so long to get back here, but the only reason I was here today is problems with guestbooks, but this one seems to be doing fine.
We do not have a Marlett listed in the AMTA database. If you provide more detail someone may be able to help you. What type plane was he flying on? If out of Yokota in 1971 had to be a C-130. Thanks for your inquiry and I hope someone comes to the guestbook that can help you. JTE

Hollie Marlett
Hello. my name is Hollie (Gerger) Marlett. My father Donald Mathew Gerger was an AMT during Vietnam. He never spoke much about his time or what he did, but did tell us one story of when his aircraft was shot down and the pilot and co-pilot were lost. He said it was near De nang. The marines picked up the survivors that bailed out and took them to De Nang. This would have happened sometime between Sept and Dec 1971 according to the timeline of his enlistment. He passed June of 2014 and while I was re-reading the letters he had written to my mother at the time (of the event) I realized this most likely occurred within weeks or days of me being born. I am just curious if there is anyone out there who may remember this event, or if they remember my dad. I am in the process collecting this information to share with my sisters. After losing my dad our mom passed as well in Sept of 2016, so all story lines are now lost with them. He was a quiet guy from a small town in Michigan. (Birch Run) worked as an apprentice for Saginaw Stearing Gear (General Motors) and married his high school sweetheart Pennie. While enlisted 1968 - 1972 he went from San Antonio to Biloxi to Kincheloe to San Angelo and then to Yokota, Japan. Any information or recollection would be appreciated. If you would like to contact me, please message me at [email protected]. I have had a wonderful outpouring of help already and would like to thank you in advance for any help you may be able to give. Thank you!

I just enjoy looking at the patches and thinking of the ole days flying with my Jet(60-0339) from Kadena all over the far east. I crewed two other planes and a bomber (1025) out of Wurtsmith AFB, Michigan. Great times and great people. Time just goes fast when you are having the fun of a life time.

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful time in San Antonio last week. Mike did a great job and so did Bob, Whitey and John Brown. I believe everything went very smoothly. If you were not there you missed another good one.

I appreciate everyone giving the new guestbook a try as I was definitely not sure of how it would work out. Thanks and hope to see everyone in San Antonio in September. It should be a great reunion with the FTVA, PWG and the AMTA all there together at the same time.

I want to say hi to everyone. Sorry I won't be able to make the
reunion. I'm in good health and hope everyone else is also.
If you're in the Lynchburg, Va. area Faye and I are in the phonebook please look us up. Now if they ever make a cell phone
with a dial on it instead of all those buttons then mabe I'll get
one. Take care....Gordon

I see a lot of names I know on here! Does the crew still leave an ear of corn on the ramp to guess where the nose wheel stops when the hog nose lands?
